PHASE ONE
Brainspotting uses the brain’s natural ability to heal itself by accessing deep neurobiological processes. A brain-body based therapy, with the hypothesis that specific eye positions designated as “brainspots” activate and access specific areas of the midbrain that allow for the reprocessing and releasing of core neurophysiological reactions to trauma-related and other psychological experiences. Brainspotting emphasises therapist-client presence and attunement in the healing process. Open and integrative, adaptable to many different areas of specialisation, and can be integrated with other treatment models. Gentle, precise, profound, & life-changing. A cutting edge, revolutionary, neuroscience-based therapy, transforming healing worldwide.
This foundational, 3-day Phase 1 Brainspotting training teaches skills to heal trauma at its source; resource clients outside their window of tolerance; target & recalibrate synaptic architectures, providing deep transformation beyond mere symptom relief; ensures trainees are current with developments in the field; and teaches four foundational brainspotting techniques for immediate clinical use upon completion of the 3-day training:
Outside Window Brainspotting
Inside Window Activation Brainspotting
Inside Window Resource Brainspotting
Gaze Spot Brainspotting
Trainees learn:
the hypothesized neurological underpinnings of how brainspotting works;
the research that supports the primary assumptions of brainspotting and the hypothesized way in which eye positions activate and accesses midbrain activity;
the uncertainty principle as it relates to brainspotting;
the concepts of simultaneous neurobiological and relational attunement;
the importance of client-therapist attunement during brainspotting;
how the treatment frame is set and held by the therapist;
the role of focused mindfulness in brainspotting;
the similarities and differences between the activation and resource models of brainspotting;
the concept of limbic countertransference;
a basic mastery of the use of the outside window brainspotting technique;
a basic mastery of the use of the inside window brainspotting technique;
a basic mastery of the use of the gaze spot brainspotting technique;
a basic mastery of the use of the resource model of brainspotting technique;
how to assess the appropriate brainspotting techniques for the treatment of PTSD, including the Dissociative Subtype, and other trauma-related symptoms;
the standards of care and professional practice for brainspotting practitioners
